Twoobii OneWeb Comms on the Move for Broadcasting

Q-KON, in collaboration with a South African Broadcaster has successfully demonstrated that the Twoobii OneWeb LEO satellite solution delivers high-reliability, high-throughput, Comms-on-the-Move connectivity for real-time broadcasting in South Africa.

The trial demonstrated that Twoobii OneWeb delivers seamless live video transmission across diverse and challenging terrains, consistently outperforming LTE in areas prone to congestion, coverage gaps, and interference.

For broadcasters, OneWeb is not merely a backup option, but a viable primary connectivity platform—providing a robust, field-ready solution that enhances operational resilience, supports consistent live newsgathering and future-proof mobile broadcast workflows.

This map illustrates one of the routes travelled. The Twoobii OneWeb LEO Services maintained uninterrupted live transmission across all routes travelled, including LTE-challenged areas.

Stable Throughput:

  • Average uplink: 5–6 Mbps
  • Peak uplink: 7.5 Mbps
  • Minimum observed: 100 Kbps

Data Transferred: 8.3 GB uploaded / 4.9 GB downloaded

LTE Comparison: LTE experienced multiple failures, while OneWeb showed no outages, highlighting superior reliability.
