Introduction
Rich in history the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) is ranked as the best higher education institution in Namibia since 2002 (PMR Africa) and the most innovative institution /or organisation in Namibia (PMR Africa 2014 and 2016).
NUST is also the Lead Applicant for the SCIONA (Skeleton Coast IONA Transfrontier Conservation Area (Angola to Namibia)) project funded by the EU. The SCIONA project aims to strengthen cross-border ecosystem management and wildlife protection in the Iona.
The Challenge
The SCIONA project office is located in Marienfluss the very remote Kubebe area in the extreme north west of Namibia. The Kubebe area borders Angola with the Baines and Zebra Mountains to the north, along which the Kunene River flowing west to the Atlantic. There are a mere 340 people in the area.
For the SCIONA project office NUST required reliable broadband services for 2 notebooks, a WiFi access point as well as alternative power source.
The Solution
A Twoobii system was installed which provided high speed reliable broadband connectivity operating on a solar system to provide a fully “off-grid” service.
“We are happy with the installation and for the training Bradley Technologies gave to the community members as part of the hand over process.”
Mr. Gereon Koch Kapuire
