Enterprising Africa Regional Network (EARN), through its agribusiness arm African Greeneurs, is committed to empowering Africa’s youth to become the next generation of successful agripreneurs. By providing hands-on training, practical tools, and business development support, African Greeneurs is building sustainable, growth-oriented agri-enterprises that address critical challenges such as food security, unemployment, and climate resilience. Through its flagship 12-month program at a climate-smart farm, the initiative equips young people to lead innovation in agriculture and drive economic transformation across the continent.

The farm faced major challenges due to unreliable networks coverage and a lack of gathering real-time environmental data. As a result, farming decisions were based on guesswork, were for instance, watering happened three times a day, which resulted in so much moisture in the soil. This was inefficient use of wate and energy, poor visibility into critical growing conditions and suboptimal crop performance. The unreliable network also hindered the effective training of future agripreneurs in precision farming practices, reducing their ability to apply data-driven decision-making in agriculture.

With the implementation of the Q-KON Satellite Solution in partnership with SES as the global network operator, and its integration with the ADVANTECH VantageX IoT platform, a reliable and data-driven solution was now available to optimize farming operations. By deploying IoT sensors and ensuring uninterrupted connectivity via satellite, the farm gained real-time insights into critical environmental conditions such as soil moisture, temperature, humidity, CO₂ levels, and light exposure. This enabled precise irrigation, climate control, and timely interventions—reducing resource waste and improving crop quality. The system not only enhanced day-to-day decision-making but also transformed the farm into a digital learning environment, empowering future agripreneurs to adopt precision farming practices and make informed, tech-enabled agricultural decisions.
