Reliable Trading for the Fast-Food industry

Introduction

The Chargo Group owns companies and franchises that span the hunting, safari, wildlife, accommodation, and fast-food restaurant industry. Of particular interest, are the Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) outlets that they own and manage in remote or rural towns in the Northern Cape (Colesburg, Prieska, De Aar), Western Cape (Beaufort West), and the Eastern Cape (Cradock, Graaf Reinet) provinces of South Africa. Understandably, reliable connectivity is key all to operations and customer service. Point-Of-Sale (POS) and voice services, which are very important to any restaurant and fast-food outlet, are an important factor.

The Challenge

The Chargo Group experienced some challenges in their KFC outlets in the more remote areas. The main challenge was that cellular connectivity was inconsistent, resulting in
customer frustrations and potentially lost orders. A solution was needed that could ensure as close as possible to 100% connectivity and system up-time, for operations to be effective. The challenge was especially seen during busy periods when calls were taking priority over total data availability.

The Solution

Twoobii Smart Satellite Solutions quickly came to the Group’s rescue by offering them a satellite solution, which rapidly improved their connectivity uptime. The solution was a POS-only system, operated through a satellite, in conjunction with a major Bank in South Africa. The solution was POS only through Twoobii, which supplied POS directly to the Bank with an internet breakout via Q-KON Africa.
