Gijima in partnership with Q-Kon assist leading global Energy and Petrochemical Company with Satellite Connectivity to remote locations.



Gijima Holdings is one of the largest ICT companies in Southern Africa; with more than 70 offices and service centres and a workforce of over 1684 employees throughout southern Africa. Gijima is a Channel Partner of Q-KON Africa for the Twoobii Satellite Connectivity Service.

The Challenge

Gijima is contracted to deliver reliable connectivity to all Fuel and Retail Operations for a leading global Energy and Petrochemical Company.  They required a trusted solution for sites not serviced by LTE, Fibre or Microwave.  This is a classic “off-grid” requirement and perfectly matched by the Twoobii satellite service.

The challenge was to ensure the end-to-end network performance remains compliant for all voice and data applications operating over an SD-WAN architecture.

The Twoobii satellite service was implemented to evaluate the availability, latency, and data throughput. The outcome was very positive and Twoobii was approved as an alternative communication medium for rural Fuel and Retail sites.

The attached graph proves the efficiency for a 10Mbps SD-WAN service even with encryption overheads.  The network was built using Fortinet SD-WAN and is fully compliant to the end users’ business applications.
